CASS LAKE- The Leech Lake Election Board has certified the results of the Primary Election held on the Leech Lake Reservation on March 31, 2026.
In this election cycle, voters went to the polls to select representatives for the positions of Secretary/Treasurer, District I Committeeperson and District II Committeeperson. In accordance with the MN Chippewa Tribe Election Ordinance, the top two candidates in the Secretary/Treasurer race and the District I race will advance to the General Election on June 9, 2026. In the District II race, incumbent District II Representative Steve White (147 votes or 56.32%) received more than 50% of the total votes cast and has been declared the winner.
For Secretary Treasurer, the top two candidates advancing to the June 9 General Election are Cindy Jackson Kingbird (561 votes or 34.29%) and Michael Reyes (401 votes or 24.51%).
For District I Committeeperson, the top two candidates advancing to the June General Election are Kyle Fairbanks (201 votes or 47.97%) and Jonathan White (176 votes or 42.00%).
