The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Housing Authority will have 4 positions open for the 2026 Election.
Leech Lake Housing Authority Board of Commissioners:
District I:
- 1 (4) Year Position
- 1 (2) Year Position
District II:
- 1 (4) Year Position
District III:
- 1 (4) Year Position
The Board of Commissioners elections will be held in conjunction with the Leech Lake General Election on June 9, 2026 at the precinct polling sites from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
The timeline to sign up is April 14, 2026 through May 8, 2026.

Eligibility requirements taken from the Leech Lake Reservation Tribal Council Ordinance Number 79-9
Article IV – Board of Commissioners
In order to run for election to the board, a person must have reached their twenty-first birthday on or before the elections date and must be a member of the Leech Lake Reservation Band or other Tribal member recognized by the United States Government, who has resided on the Reservation for at least twelve months prior to election.
- Shall be in good financial standing with the Housing Authority: and
- Shall not be an employee of the Housing Authority; or
- Must resign their position with the Housing Authority to serve on the Board: and
- Shall not have a felony conviction within the ten-year period prior to running for election for the following crimes:
- Felony sale or possession of a controlled substance, or an equivalent conviction from a different jurisdiction.
- Felony criminal sexual conduct, or an equivalent conviction from a different jurisdiction.
- Crimes of violence as defined in MN Statute 624.712 Subdivision 5, or an equivalent conviction from a different jurisdiction.
- Shall pass a standard drug test. Cannabis exempt.
